Cassie Leisk, BSc, MSc is Head of Sustainability at UK-based processor, New England Seafood International where she is responsible for the development and implementation of their responsible sourcing strategy.
NESI imports and processes high quality seafood for the UK retail and foodservice sectors, where the company is known for excellence and leadership in sustainability and ethical trading, working in close collaboration with suppliers and related stakeholders around the world to achieve mutual goals. Cassie and her team work with NESI’s supply chain partners and related fishery stakeholders to understand and support their approach to sustainability, helping to influence improvements within industry and for fisheries’ management.
Before moving to New England Seafood in 2015, Cassie worked for over five years at the Marine Stewardship Council, where she led their Fishery Improvement work, increasing accessibility to sustainability for developing world and small-scale fisheries. Cassie worked on the ground throughout the world to ensure stakeholders have the necessary knowledge and tools to deliver demonstrable change in fishery management and she is now enjyoing bringing that expertise into the commercial sector.
Cassie gained an MSc in Aquatic Resource Management, with a specialisation in sustainable fisheries.
