Women in the Seafood Industry

The International Association for Women in Seafood Industry (WSI) is a not for profit organisation created by seafood professionals and gender specialists. WSI aims to highlight women’s contribution to the seafood industry, raise awareness of gender issues and promote professional equality between men and women in the seafood industry.

This partnership between IPNLF and WSI strengthens IPNLF’s engagement with social issues; in particular gender parity. Women are essential contributors to the seafood industry and IPNLF will continue to raise women's profiles and alongside WSI help them gain visibility, recognition and value.

It’s time for the industry and public authorities to recognise the importance of woman in the seafood industry. Not for the sake of women but more for the benefit of the industry - this is not only to be fair, this is to be smart as well. Through WSI, IPNLF have joined a network of organisations making a commitment to raise the profile of women working in the industry, to recognise the value that they bring.”
